My top tip: Collaborate, and connect! Reach out and make relationships with your community, be that academically or otherwise. You never know when a friend might be able to help you out of a pickle.

Current Job Title: Test Engineer at Sky (Sky Sports Web team)
A Software Test Engineer designs and executes test plans to ensure software quality. They identify bugs, verify fixes, and ensure the product meets functional and performance requirements. They collaborate with developers, use automation tools, and provide feedback to improve software reliability, efficiency, and user experience. Alongside my role, I am on the Sky TECHWomen Committee, Sky Diversity and Inclusion Group in Leeds and Next Tech Girls/GirlCode/SheCanCode Ambassador.

As well as being a full-time student, I'm a co-founder of Beatside, part-time Sales Advisor for Virgin Media O2, Youth Support Worker for Leeds City Council, and Project CREATE intern at University of Leeds. As a co-founder of Beatside, a socially conscious multimedia production company and creative platform that was founded in 2022, my role is ever-evolving as we navigate the tricky terrain of the arts sector. So far, this has involved working on film productions, expanding our creative network and organising events.

At the core of all my work is a passion for environmental storytelling.

I'm a journalism student at the University of Leeds, hosting my own podcast (Heart Two Heart) on Leeds Student Radio and I’m also Head of Culture at Leeds Student Television. Through my podcast and culture content produced for LSTV I have talked about my experiences as an Asian woman in the UK and interviewed guests on topics including: working in the charity sector; being Canadian; and being a fresher at university.

Job Title: Shooting Assistant Producer at Air TV
I'm fortunate that my role is incredibly varied! I spend half my time within the Research & Development team at Air TV, developing ideas and creating them into pitches, following through from research, to casting, commission and working on the production of the programme. I also film alongside the Yorkshire Air Ambulance for Air's series Yorkshire Air 999 - flying with the YAA team filming the amazing work they do each day.

Never let anything hold you back, there's always a way.
