"I think that being working class and from the North has been both a blessing and a curse. I find that I am often pigeonholed and assumptions are made about my level of education. I try to use those misapprehensions to my advantage. I also don't doubt that sexism is still a huge barrier in my industry."

On how she deals with feelings of insecurity or imposter syndrome:
"Recognise them for what they are - self-sabotage and doubt."

"It's never a straight road into the industry. Enjoy the journey with all its diversions and unscheduled stops. Every single one will be teaching you something that you need down the road."
